Ghost Towns & Wills
First off, I had a great weekend but have to ask everyone: Do you have a will? Don’t feel bad if you do not but you will after you learn more about what happens if you don’t. Secondly, I have lived in Arizona most of my life and finally visited the hidden gem known as Jerome, AZ. We had lunch at the Jerome Grand Hotel with a beautiful view over looking the Verde Valley. We did not see any actual ghosts but the place did have a spooky vibe. On that note, one reason a spirit may be hanging around would be if they died without a will and had no heirs.
Testate vs Intestate: Do you have a will?
This area of real estate vocabulary only comes up upon your death. Above all, no matter what your age, you should create a will to protect your property. If you die with a will, you have died in testate. Conversely, if you die without a will than you have died intestate. In addition, the individual who creates your will for you is known as a testator. If you die intestate all your worldly possessions will go through probate and without any heirs could end up in Arizona’s general fund. Who would want that? So do you have a will?
Visiting the Jerome Grand Hotel
Once a hospital for the copper mine below, this now haunted hotel is perched atop Cleopatra Hill in Jerome, AZ. While we were only able to stay for lunch, the view is spectacular and my SUV had fun navigating the rocky roads and switchbacks up the hill. Jerome itself is a very quaint town with plenty of shopping and art boutiques. I will be returning soon with friends to spend the night and play amateur ghost hunters.
